"On the Invention clear day" in the distant year of 1921 , Almada Negreiros wrote: "We are not from the century that invents words. The words have been invented. We are from the century that invents the words that have already been invented."
Why do I recall this phrase, that I like so much?
Maybe because the colors and strokes of paint by Ana Ulisses seem that draw dialogismos with several other hands, and works, and motives. They seam intertexts , - allow me to be daring, to use a concept arising from the literature or science of communication. They take shape with the dialogues that support to others. And with us too. But isn't any form of art a way to communicate? Consider the still-lifes revisited, the elements of composition: classics in innovative strokes , I think . Consider the disturbed and disturbing female figure, seductive and magical, yet tragic, something perverse that questions us. Diary of gall ? Let us look . Because Ana Ulisses is inventing again the colors, the shapes and forms that have already been invented . And can hold our gaze . " Thanks for everything. Ana Ulisses.
